Definition of a Certified Organisation

A Certified Company is an organisation that has successfully completed the full BSUK Integrity Trust verification and audit process and has demonstrated that it meets the Trust’s required standards of governance, compliance, transparency, and ethical conduct.

Certification confirms that the organisation:

  • Operates legally and is properly registered
  • Maintains accurate and verifiable documentation
  • Has no unresolved compliance breaches
  • Demonstrates integrity in procurement, finance, HR, and operations
  • Has passed all mandatory BSUK verification checks
  • Has no active fraud, corruption, or misconduct flags
  • Has met the minimum threshold for ethical business conduct
  • Has agreed to ongoing monitoring and annual re‑certification

Certification is not automatic. It is earned through evidence‑based assessment and continuous compliance.

Core Criteria for Certification

A company is certified only when it meets all of the following standards:

1. Legal & Regulatory Compliance

  • Valid company registration
  • Verified directors and shareholders
  • Up‑to‑date tax compliance
  • Valid procurement or sector‑specific licences
  • Social security and statutory registrations in place

2. Governance & Ethical Standards

  • Approved anti‑bribery and corruption policy
  • Code of conduct for staff and suppliers
  • Whistleblowing framework
  • Documented governance structure
  • No evidence of unethical practices

3. Operational Integrity

  • Transparent procurement processes
  • Documented financial controls
  • HR compliance (contracts, policies, procedures)
  • Verified supplier relationships
  • No unresolved integrity risks

4. Anti‑Corruption Controls

  • Risk assessment completed
  • Fraud‑prevention measures in place
  • No active corruption investigations
  • No history of bribery or procurement manipulation

5. Evidence‑Based Verification

All evidence submitted must be:

  • Authentic
  • Current
  • Verifiable
  • Stored in the BSUK digital evidence vault
  • Blockchain‑timestamped (post‑blockchain rollout)

6. Successful Completion of the BSUK Audit

The company must pass:

  • Compliance Readiness Review
  • Gap Analysis
  • Full Compliance Diagnostic Audit
  • Any required corrective actions

Certification Status Levels

BSUK Integrity Trust recognises three certification levels:

1. Certified (Standard)

Company meets all minimum compliance and governance requirements.

2. Certified – Enhanced (Blockchain Verified)

Company meets all requirements and all evidence is secured on the BSUK blockchain.

3. Certified – Executive (High‑Integrity Organisation)

Company demonstrates:

  • Strong governance culture
  • Zero compliance gaps
  • High transparency
  • Strong anti‑corruption controls
  • Clean supplier ecosystem

This is the highest level of recognition.

Validity and Renewal

  • Certification is valid for 12 months.
  • Companies must undergo an Annual Re‑Certification Audit to maintain status.
  • Companies may be suspended or removed from the register if they:
    • Fail to maintain compliance
    • Engage in misconduct
    • Refuse audits
    • Submit false information

Rights of a Certified Company

A certified company receives:

  • A BSUK Integrity Certificate
  • Listing on the Register of Compliant Companies
  • Permission to use the BSUK Certification Mark
  • Priority consideration for donor, diaspora, and government projects
  • Access to BSUK compliance support services.
